Minas Gerais, Brazil: Nova Era, Itabira Emerald Mines
Brazil's Minas Gerais emerald deposits are found in the Nova Era, Itabira region at the Capoeirana mine and Itabira mine, approximately 90 kilometers east of Belo Horizonte. The mines at Nova Era are best known for producing emerald, and secondarily for alexandrite.
