Zimbabwe Diamond Mines: River Ranch Diamond Mine

Zimbabwe's River Ranch Diamond Mine is located on the boarder with South Africa, near the town of Bietbridge in southern Zimbabwe. As of 2006, the River Ranch Mine is embroiled in controversy over disputed ownership of the mine, and the possibility of sanctions for violating the Kimberly Process rules on smuggling black-market diamonds. Solomon Mujuru, the husband of Zimbabwe's Vice President, Joyce Mujuru, is being accused in a Harare high court, of using his political connections to illegally seizing the mine.
