The collaborative team of Jeffery and Susan Wise have helped to pioneer a 'style' that evokes the primitive works of ancient man. The combination of Jeff's lapidary skills, Susan's aesthetic sensibilities, and their use of fossilized materials and semiprecious stones, combine to create unique works of modern-primitive art. The Wise studio is in Durango, Colorado.

The Michael Boyd Studio is located in Salida, Colorado. According Michael: "In the collecting and choosing of stones, I am a colorist, and while cutting the stones, I define the form and structure." Michael teaches several classes in jewelry design, designing with stone, basic lapidary and integrating stone and metal.

Kiwon Wang was born in Korea, and for the last 16 years has lived in the United States. The unifying them of her work is theme "East meets West," combining the aesthetics and traditions of her two cultures. Kiwon has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and at Kookmin University in Korea. Kiwon Wang's studio is located in New York City.

Born of Turkish decent, Gurhan Orhan is one of the few designers choosing to work in pure 24 karat gold, due to its warmth and richness. His work reveals a sense of his Anatolian roots, evoking memories of ancient Constantinople and Rome. Gurhan works in both Istanbul and New York City.

Baharal Gnida is a collaborative team of Talya Baharal and Gene Gnida, formed in 1988. Israeli born, Talya Baharal was exposed to art and design through her artist mother, who encouraged her "intuitive ability." Gene Gnida started as an architect/historian but found himself drawn to the world of art and sculpting. Their studio is in Hudson Valley, New York.

Polish artist, Marcin Zaremski studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts while honing his skills at his parent's art studio. His Polish roots are reflected in his heavy use of amber, used primarily in its natural state. Zaremski's studio is located in Warsaw, where he has opperated his own gallery/studio since 1991.

Karen Gilbert studied metal arts at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and also attended the famed Pilchuck Glass School, founded by Dale Chihuly. Karen's work has earned international recognition for effectively combining her two divers disciplines. Karen's studio is located in Healdsburg, California.

Susan Sadler combines semiprecious gemstones and vintage materials such as bakelite to create bold jewelry with a funky, retro flair. Susan has won the "New Designer of the Year" award from Jewelers of America, and "Designer of the Year" from the Women's Jewelry Association. Susan Sadler Fine Jewelry Design is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Carol's work is created by laminating a thin layer of copper over a thicker layer of silver, then photo-etching delicate patterns through the copper layer. The copper is then oxidized, coloring it black to contrast with the silver. Carol Webb's studio is located in Santa Cruz, California.

Marco Borghesi was born in Verona, Italy, in 1957. Marco worked as a goldsmith's apprentice, under master jeweler Bruno Marcon, and in 1983, he opened his own studio in Verona. Marco has taught jewelry-making in Verona, and in 1994 he established the Gallery for Jeweler's Arts, which promotes cultural exchanges between international jewelry designers.
