Taolagnaro, Madagascar: Tranomaro & Andranondambo Gem Mines

In Madagascar's Tranomaro Zone, the Andranondambo sapphire mines are located in the Manambolo valley, some 80 km north-west of the port city of Fort Dauphin () on Madagascar's south-east coast. The Tranomaro mines are situated on the west bank of the Manambolo river, at the village of Marohotro, around 10 km south of Andranondambo. Sapphire from Andranondambo is known for its high-quality.
